Harding Residence, Hobart Town

The Harding Residence stood on elevated ground above Sullivans Cove, commanding views across the infant settlement of Hobart Town to the waters of the Derwent beyond. Constructed by the Reverend Robert Knopwood during 1814–15 and acquired by the newly-arrived magistrate Sir William Harding upon his arrival in August 1815, the house represented an ambitious statement of civilised refinement in a colony that remained, by most measures, barely civilised at all. The residence stood for nearly two decades as a centre of respectable society in Hobart Town, hosting magistrates, merchants, and colonial officials who sought the imprimatur of Harding hospitality. Following Sir William's death in 1824 and Elizabeth's marriage, the property passed through several hands before fire gutted the building in 1831. The site was subsequently acquired by Captain Andrew Haig, who erected the Georgian townhouse known as Narryna on the foundations of what had been the Harding garden, ensuring that something of the original property's elevated dignity persisted into the colonial era that followed.

Purchased by the couple shortly after their 1991 temple marriage, the house served for nearly three decades as the foundation of Baker family life—accommodating seven children, hosting countless Relief Society gatherings, and providing the domestic stability that anchored Jonathan's environmental engineering career and Evelyn's extensive church leadership. A modest red-brick unit in Glenorchy's northern suburbs, the Kate Gibbons Residence sits within walking distance of Tolosa Park. This single-level dwelling features a compact layout typical of working-class Tasmanian housing: small bathroom, laundry, living area, two bedrooms, and a functional kitchen connected by thin brown-carpeted hallways. Its brick driveway and front yard frame a property that became witness to intimate family revelations and mysterious intrusions during mid-2018.

The flat occupied by Dr Mira Osman sits on the fourth floor of a late Ottoman apartment building in Cihangir, a hillside neighbourhood in Istanbul's Beyoğlu district. Rented since 2020, the one-bedroom apartment served as both Mira's residence and her unofficial working space for the archival investigation she conducted into Azariel Tiberius Voshtar's wandering years following the Kisura discovery of January 2024.

Nial & Jenny Triffett Residence, Fern Tree

The Triffett residence in Fern Tree, Hobart, Tasmania, was once a symbol of family warmth and success. Built in 1974 and purchased by Nial and Jenny Triffett shortly after their wedding, the house stands as a cherished home full of memories, set against the backdrop of Mount Wellington's imposing beauty. However, by July 2018, with Nial’s sudden disappearance and their son Sammy’s unsettling behaviour, the home took on a darker tone. Just weeks later, in August 2018, the entire Triffett family vanished without a trace, leaving the house a haunting relic of a life abruptly cut short.

Noah & Greta Smith Family Home, Craigmore

The Noah and Greta Smith family home in Craigmore, Adelaide, was a modest brick veneer house on the city's northern edge that served as the Smith family's primary residence from 2006 until August 2018. Acquired following Noah and Greta's return from a decade in Broken Hill, the house sheltered them and their four younger children through twelve years of Mormon family life before falling quiet in the aftermath of the family's disappearance through a dimensional Portal in the study.

Noah & Heather Smith Residence, Elizabeth

The Noah & Heather Smith Residence was an ordinary red-brick house in Elizabeth Park whose ordinariness concealed what it held. From 1986 it sheltered a Latter-day Saint family of four: Noah, a gentle, devout mechanic who could provide for his family but not heal it; Heather, a gifted poet whose untreated illness made her tender and dangerous by turns; and their sons Paul and Luke, who grew up reading her weather and keeping its secrets. In 1992 a final violent breaking ended the family and emptied the house.

Patrick and Jane Lahey Residence, Finkenwerder

The flat at 47 Neßdeich served as Patrick and Jane Lahey's temporary home during their Hamburg residence from March 1961 through late 1962. Company housing provided by Deutsche Werft, the modest second-floor accommodation contained three rooms plus kitchen and bathroom—adequate for a childless couple but sparse by Australian standards. Here Jane spent solitary days whilst Patrick worked eighteen-hour shifts, the thin walls allowing German conversations to penetrate whilst her own secrets remained contained. The flat witnessed their marriage's transformation from comfortable partnership into something more honest and complicated.

Patrick and Jane Lahey Residence, New Norfolk

The weatherboard house at 19 Hobart Road served as the Lahey family home for fifty-four years, from February 1963 through January 2017. Boyer Mill company housing provided the space Sandy Bay had lacked—four bedrooms, larger garden, proximity to Patrick's workplace. Here the children grew and left, grandchildren arrived after tragedy, Patrick died, and Jane aged into frailty. The hollowed-out Faust occupied the same bookshelf throughout, its secret surviving decades of ordinary family life unfolding around it.

Patrick and Jane Lahey Residence, Sandy Bay

The cottage at 4 Bective Street served as Patrick and Jane Lahey's family home from 1952 through early 1963, housing their growing family during the years when Nicholas, Fiona, Solomon, and Pip were young children. The weatherboard cottage represented respectable working-class achievement—three bedrooms, modest garden, convenient location near schools and Sandy Bay shops. It was here that Jane received Deutsche Werft's offer in February 1961, here that she returned in May 1962 carrying secrets that would reshape their marriage, here that the hollowed-out book containing Hamburg's only physical evidence found its place on an ordinary bookshelf.

Paul and Claire Smith Residence, Broken Hill

The modest residence on Broken Hill's sun-bleached streets stood witness to a marriage's slow unravelling—where piano melodies once mingled with dance rehearsals, domestic harmony curdled into bitter silence. These weathered walls absorbed Paul and Claire Smith's arguments, sheltered their children Mack and Rose through family dinners, and bore silent testimony to the July 2018 crisis when cryptic phone calls and desperate escapes transformed sanctuary into crime scene, leaving neighbours whispering and a black Kelpie barking behind locked doors.
