Bywater Creek is a minor waterway in the Huon Valley, approximately three kilometres south of Franklin, running seven kilometres from its headwaters in the western hills to its confluence with a Huon River tributary. Unremarkable in every respect that matters to anyone who does not farm the land it crosses — until a seasonal orchard worker walked its bank on the morning of 22 May 2018 and did not return.

Portal Cave, a volcanic fissure approximately two kilometres from Belkeep's centre, marks where Cody Jennings emerged on 30 October 1987 after activating his Portal Key in Gawler, South Australia. The cave's shimmering stone formation provided the gateway between Earth and Clivilius, though only Guardians could ever return—for everyone else, crossing meant permanent exile. Its faint luminescence and marginally warmer temperature saved lives during emergencies.
The Western Ghats are a mountain range running parallel to the western coast of the Indian subcontinent, stretching over 1,600 kilometres from the Tapti River in the north to the southern tip of the peninsula. One of the most biologically diverse regions on Earth, the range's dense monsoon forests were home to the Kurumba people and harboured the melanistic leopard populations from which, in 1287 BCE, four cubs were captured and transported to Clivilius.
