Two Monsters, One Night
Sharon's taillights disappear. Jenny stands alone under a streetlight, hands shaking, the image of the creature replaying every time she blinks. She stumbles home to her sanctuary. Except it's not empty. In one nightmare night, Jenny discovers monsters come in two forms—the impossible creature that feeds in empty houses, and the human predator who's been entering her home for months, watching her sleep, singing lullabies to her son.
QUEST BRIEFING:
Sharon drops Jenny at a streetlight and drives away. Jenny stumbles home alone, traumatised, the creature's image replaying behind her eyes—blood dripping from jaws, entrails hanging from teeth.
Her sanctuary feels wrong. Foreign. The familiar has warped into something menacing. She collapses on the stairs, vomiting from trauma and exhaustion. Drags herself to the bedroom. Into the shower, desperate to wash away the horror.
She hears footsteps in the bathroom.
Hope surges through the terror. Nial? Her missing husband, finally home?
The shower door opens.
What happens next shatters every remaining illusion of safety. The truth that emerges isn't about the creature at Luke's house. It's about something that's been happening in her own home. Something she never saw. Something that's been going on for months.
In one nightmare night, Jenny will discover that monsters come in two forms. The impossible creature that feeds in dark places. And the predator hiding in plain sight.
Sharon commanded her to keep silent about what they saw. But there are some silences even more dangerous than the ones we're ordered to keep.
